Speaking of gluten-free, this month we're switching the normal (3rd Saturday) date of our monthly gluten-free demo day to the 4th Saturday, August 23. On that day, from noon to 4 pm, we'll be having a barbecue in the parking lot featuring Ron Palmer from Black Horse Sauces serving up grilled chicken with his gluten-free sauces. We'll be selling plates for $2.50 (chicken, rice, corn, soda), with all proceeds going to Gluten Intolerance Group of Eugene (Eugene GIG). ALSO, at 4 pm, we'll be picking the winner of our current bike raffle. The bicycle is a Raleigh Women's Detour 3.5. (See picture below.) Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and are on sale NOW at our checkstands. All proceeds of the bike raffle will go to Eugene GIG.
And one last note, we are continuing to accept donations to St. Vincent de Paul's school supply drive. We've had some queries about how the supplies are distributed. According to the information we've received, St. Vinnie's will distribute school supplies on August 27th, 28th, and 29th at the Lindholm Center off of Hwy 99 in Eugene. Public information line is 689-6747. On the other side of I-5, the Springfield Public Schools Family Center is already taking appointments and will start distribution on August 17th at the Brattain House, 1030 G St., Springfield. Appointments can be made by calling 744-6769.

We have detailed lists available at the donation barrel in the store.
In addition to "Backpacks! Backpacks! Backpacks!" St. Vinnie's needs your help buying a variety of school supplies for homeless and low-income kids in our area, including: Tissues, Colored Pencils, Elmer's Glue, Rulers, Colored Markers, 3-Ring Binders, Pee Chees, No. 2 Pencils, Crayons, Erasers, Notebook Paper, Calculators, Large Scissors, Glue Sticks, Spiral Notebooks, Wide- & College-Ruled Paper, and Ball-Point Pens. Friday, 25 April 2008 WINE TASTING TODAY (NO TASTING SATURDAY)
Greetings folks,
The weekly wine pours continue to be fun for me and I think we keep hitting a few gems now and then. This week the Saturday 26th tasting is moved to TODAY, Friday the 25th at 5:00 and we will be hosting King Estate. It's often easy to overlook this constant in our wine midst. It is always interesting to go back and revisit their lineup and see what's new and revisit with seasoned favorites.
Chelsea will be here to pour at 5:00 today, Friday the 25th and there will be no Saturday tasting this week.
I do encourage you to check out our food fair on May 9, 10 and 11th. It is our on the books yearly celebration and has been-- back to the good ol days with Doug and Annie. There will be entertainment, BBQ and many tastings (wine/beer/food) throughout the weekend. Drop by our webpage as we will be posting info soon.
Don't know if we should be looking at new spring white releases or hunkerin down with our favorite foul weather red. In either case, our shelves our always ready for the choosing.
See you soon,
joe @ capella

Friday, 04 April 2008 Recent Local Newspaper Mentions
We love seeing ourselves in the local paper! In the last week, Capella Market was mentioned at least 3 times in the Register-Guard, in connection with some exciting local food news.
On March 28, the Retail Notebook column notes the re-introduction of Genesis Juice by Toby's Family Foods, and mentions that you can find the new Genesis Juice at Capella Market.
Eugene's Turtle Mountain natural foods company was profiled in a feature article on March 30. Capella was mentioned as carrying a variety of products from Turtle Mountain, including So Delicious and Purely Decadent soy ice creams and the new So Delicous soy yogurts.
And just this last Wednesday, in an article called "Hot for Sauce A Corvallis man produces his own line of spicy flavoring" the R-G featured Tim LaPlante and his line of natural spicy sauces, and revealed that Capella Market is currently the only Eugene outlet for his products.
Stop by and visit this weekend. Joe will be holding his weekly free wine tasting on Saturday at 4:30.
And just a reminder, our next Gluten Free Demo Day is Saturday, April 19. Talk to you later!
